I highly recommend you keep all other reptiles, including other iguanas, from sharing a space with your iguana. Iguanas are highly territorial and have been known to attack others even to the point of death. Chameleons have different habitat needs also, so make sure you do lots of research on what both needs. I urge you to read Iguanas for Dummies for more information on this.

definitely no! no! no! But of course i understand that untill your animals are bigger size you want for obvious reasons to have them in smaller habitats than when they are adult. that is nothing wrong. So i would suggest an easy solution which I have used in similar circumstances. u see, the chameleon would be scared to death if it had to share the terrarium with your iggy, it would just hide all the time and most probably die of stress EVEN if the iggy decided to leave it alone. and if you ARE CONSIDERING GETTING ONE YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY KNOWN THAT! forgive me for saying so, but your question reminds me of those like " i want a chameleon, so plase tell be what they eat". Putting them together makes no sense even if it were baby iguana and adult cham, no sense at all. I believe you are planning to keep the cham in the iggy´s terrarium when the iggy outgrows the terrarium and will be put elsewhere?? then i perfectly understand that you dont want another terrarium just for the meanwhile. And maybe you are planning to buy a young, not full-grown cham, so it would be much better off in a terrarium that is way smaller than an adult cham would need. So i suggest this: get a piece of glass or organic glass and divide the iggy s terrarium into two appropriately sized parts. it is important that the animals DONT SEE EACH OTHER that is vitally important. unless u want a nervous wreck of a chameleon. I have done it by covering one side of the glass by adhesive foil (i prefer white, because dark colors make the terrarium too dark and dull) (or u can use some paint if u find some that wouldnt come off or be toxic??) or get the kind of glass or whatever material it is that is used for bathroom doors. or even plywood if u figure out how to protect it from moisture. Chams are cute, go for it. if u give your animals proper care and food and make sure that the temperature, light, humidity and so on is right and maintained in a fail-safe way, you can have them temporarily in rather small containers. you know, there are top-class breeders that cannot afford ample spaces for every animal and they have excellent results and plenty of thriving animals and there are people who try hard to give their animals large space but with improper care the results are pathetically sick animals, cause they dont know what the animals really need.

In a nutshell, no. Not only are the two species from totally different areas of the world, but it's also not advisable at all to mix species when keeping herps. Also, in the wild, Iguanas are omnivores, meaning they eat insects, small animals (baby mice, small reptiles, etc) and plant matter. So if your Chameleon is small enough, Iggy just may think he's a yummy little snack. Plus, there's the fact that each species could carry diseases or microscopic parasites that would effect the other. I.E., Iggy could carry a parasite that doesn't effect him at all, but could kill the Chameleon. Generally, it's not a good idea at all. I would save up for another cage if you really want the Chameleon. Putting them together is just irresponcible.
Hope this was helpful.

absolutely not, the cham would stress to death for one. Placeing herps together causes diesease sometimes too. Chams require an almost open air cage and alot of care. They don't drink from a bowl and must be misted daily. They also require U.V. light the same as your igauna. I suggest going to www.kingsnake.com and doing alot of research on the chameleon before you make that step. They are not an easy creature to care for if not expierenced.

I like them all for different reasons. I think the Bearded Dragons are really the neatest things because they look like the most prehistoric of them all. Iguanas I like because so many of my friends have owned them. My nephew owned a gecko who I like because they were colorful & I am esp fond of his commercials on TV & I have tons of chameleons in my yard that my cats watch for hours and I have to rescue them from my cats. I like the way they do push ups & stretch their throat. I haven't liked any of the lizards I married however, but you haven't listed them here anyway.

I don't think so. It is not a good idea to house different species of reptile together. One might have different requirements than the other.
