A mixture of veggie oil, dishsoap, and water is perfectly safe for your roses! I do it all the time with my roses.

A mixture of 1 cup vegetable oil with 1 table spoon liquid dishwashing soap (don't use any containing bleach!)
Add 1 1/2 tsp. solution per cup of warm water to a handheld spray bottle and mist the foliage and stems!!!

Just make sure to cut off any affected foiliage first!!

Hope this is helpful!

Here are some I have heard of:

Spray the plant with water from a hose to knock the aphid off.

Plant chives or some other plant in the onion family next to the roses because it makes the rose taste awful to the aphid.

Another is not to feed the roses too much because that encourages more growth and more aphids.

Encourage natural predators like ladybirds and ants.

I have used the first two (the chives look pretty too!) and it seems to have worked.

Good luck.

It is not toxic to the plant and much less harmful than chemical sprays. Use just 1 teaspoon of liguid soap to a quart of water. Spray each day until no problem remains. If you are worried about using dish soap, buy insecticidal soap spray at gardening center.

Legally , you need to give them two weeks notice before asking them politely to leave . If they will not go , erect a large printed sign beside the bush stating that it is yours and you would very much like them to leave . If this does not work , before embarking on direct action , try supplying another bush or shrub for them to move to . If all else fails call 0800 400 Aphid and ask for Stuart - he'll sort them out .

I am not sure about dishsoap working, but I can tell you that ladybugs just love to eat aphids...You can probably purchase ladybugs at your nearest nursery....

the only soap you can use is sunlight- it is gentle enough that it wont hurt your plant- just a few drops in a squirt bottle and fill it with water and saturate the leaves etc but do it b4 bedtime so you dont fry the plant in the sun
