At your age, you should be prepared by either wearing a small panty liner or by carrying a pad "just in case." When my daughter was your age, I always sent a few supplies with her, just because we knew it would happen sooner or later. For her, it happened at summer camp -- but she was prepared.

Usually, your first period starts as a light brown discharge, and then later becomes more of a red blood discharge. If you have cramps or anything prior to starting your first period, ask your mom or another woman you trust for some help choosing the right pad or tampon. At your age, I would start with a pad.

Don't be afraid of your period, it is very normal. I started mine in fifth grade. Trust me -- you will get used to it!

Why are you scared? Growing up is a part of life. Not having your period is scary and some have to wait until they are fifteen before they see it for the first time, When you go camping or hiking or rock climbing etc., you take certain equipment with you. Read up on becoming a woman. Talk to your Mom or a trusted female friend. Then carry a backup in your purse so that you will not be surprised. Most cycles go by the moon so be aware of the changes in this lunar calendar.

There is no need to be scared. Has your mom had "the talk" with you? :0) My daughter is going into sixth grade and I have already talked to her about it. It is an exciting time in a girl's life. It means you are turning into a young woman. My mom made a big deal about it when I started at 13. She seemed almost proud of me! LOL. It is all part of life. No one is going to know unless you tell them. I am 30, and still no one knows when I have it.

Don't worry about it. I'm going into 6th grade next year and I'll have had my period for two years in Jan. People can't tell if you're on your period (unless you don't have anything with you) always keep a pad/tampon in your bookbag or purse just to be safe. Good luck!

Honey there ain't need to be scared to get your period. It is a normal fact of life that every woman gets and you will only have it for like the next 40-50 years. So grow up and learn to deal with it.

Don't worry about a thing. Some girls are really shy about it, but some are really open about it. When I was in 6th grade, all the girls were bragging about having their periods. It just means you are maturing. It's not as bad as you are thinking!

The only thing that is scary about your period is running into a cute boy from school while carrying around a bag of pads in the local grocery store.

Don't worry about it everything is going to be fine. Just make sure that you have like a tampon or pad in your backpack just in case it happens and it will happen to everyone at some point in time so there is no need to be embarssed its ust something you will have to deal with its no big deal

Its okay, dont feelscared it is a normal thing that happends to every girl. You are going into a young woman and it is a BEUATIFUL THING. just make sure that you have enough pads to take with u to school they have them small enough where no one can see them, and make sure that you always take care of yourself when it comes to that ok. Also it always seems that just by looking at you that people can tell that you are on your period, it is not true, no one can tell just by looking at you. So when the time comes just take it easy and jut relax okay sweetie! Good luck!
