It depends on what type of psychology you want to do, and also what you plan on using your psych degree for. I would look at which grad programs appeal to you, and then whether NYU will provide you with the coursework and internship/fieldwork experience that would get you into the grad program of your choice. I would also look at whether there is anyone on the faculty who specializes in the field of psychology that you are interested in. As you know, there are many different and sometimes conflicting schools of thought within psychology, so the last thing you would want is to be a Jungian in a school run by Freudians (for example)
In the New York area not only does NYU have a good rep, so does Columbia and New School for Social Research. Fordham also has a good dept of psych--I have a friend on the faculty there who specializes in treatment for trauma. So again, decide first what your specific interest and goals are in psychology and then choose a school accordingly. Good luck!

I just graduated NYU with a BA in psych. I don't know if its the best school but I enjoyed it. The teacher's were great. Many of my prof. and others in the dept. actually wrote many of the journal articles I came across. They offer many classes and if you are very into it...join the honor program..you can work alongside a prof. or adjunct writing an article, doing research, etc...
Plus, NYU is great school. So many amenities, NYC is awesome, there is actually stuff to do besides drink, internship opportunities, etc
However, I'm alittle biased.
