My baby had the exact same thing with one of her 4-month shots. She just had her 6-month shots last week, and I had an older, experienced nurse who told me that the knots are caused by the way the shot is injected into the muscle. When she gave the shots this time, there was only one tiny bump and not any big knots. If the hard bump is still there it means the injection has not dissolved all the way. This is helped by the warm wet cloth, so keep doing that and it will go away eventually. If it is not bright red and still very tender, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would call her doctors office and ask them that question. If they try to pass it off as a "nervous first time parent" question, you might want to find another ped. Raising your child is your most important job ever and you need a doctor you can trust to be a partner in your childs wellbeing. Unfortunately, some medical practices get too big to be personal enough for that kind of relationship.
Good luck, and love that baby to pieces! They are just getting into that great developing skills/personality phase. My grandson is that age, and I'm loving it!!
