I use Yahoo for most of my e-mails, but I also get some to my home address. I am changing Internet providers which will automatically shut down that e-mail account. Is there a way to have them forwarded to my new provider or Yahoo?

What ISP did you have?

Some cable and DSL companies will forward your email for you for 30 days before they disconnect you completely from their services. Charter does it, comcast does it....you need to call your old ISP company and ask them to extend your disconnect service and to forward your emails for you for 30 days. They will usually do it for you without charge. Just give them your yahoo email address and ask them to forward it for you.

Prior to shutting down your email you should setup an automated response that tells people the new email address. In addition, prior to switching setup an AUTO fwd (usually in email options) to the new address. This way, when you are shut out some ISPs actually keep the email address active so that these fwd emails will continue to get fwd for some time. Some ISPs also let you keep the email active for some time after (you can't log in but users still get your auto response and autofwd emails).

check with your ISP what they offer.

Lastly, doesn't hurt to email everyone on your contact list (from the old ISP) to let them know your new address before it's shut down.

Yes, since your yahoo email address stays the same, on your other email address, open each email and click the forward button to your yahoo email address.

Never divulge any personal information or even bless these types of emails with a reply. if they wish to give you money (Winnings), at some point they will want a bank account # to transfer the winnings to OR they could be Phishing for valid email adresses so in replying you would be validating your email for them which would add your email address to their database thus increasing the amount of spam you get. Just report it as spam and move on...
