use chrome polish. turtle wax makes some.

Believe it or not the cheapest and easiest way to clean rust off chrome is get a wet rag and rub it in dirt, thus you will make mud on your rag, wipe it on the rust and presto it's gone, no damage whatsoever and works better than most cleaners, try it you will like it.

Use 00 grade steel wool and a mild soap solution,, dip the wool in the soapy water and lightly rub the area,, it will look like new again, you can use the same method to super clean and polish your windshield and door glasses!!!!!

doing by hand will be a headache.....use a drill with soft pads first it's fast & effective, use rust remover with it & it'll come out a charm. if more heavy duty detergent or pad is needed try the auto parts store for recommendations but the drill will by far yield the best results for your subject & your hands!!!!
