As you can see I absolutely love The Goodies, but I also like the Radio comedies I'm sorry I'll Read That Again (from the 60's and 70's,) and I'm sorry I haven't a clue (past and present) that starred the members of The Goodies along with other famous comedians such as John Cleese.

My all time fave TV comedy has to be THAT 70s SHOW... I love every episode, all the dialog that goes between the family and friends is hilarius... I don't think there's any other comedy show that'll make me laugh as hard as this one. This show can enjoy EVERYONE with a REALLY good sense of humor. Sometimes it makes me wish I lived back then in the 70s where there was WAY TOO MUCH freedom & a lot of alcohol! ^^

Past? Threes A Company. It was such a funny, but rare type of scenario, each episode being a different story, some what.
Present? Yes, Dear. Because it's two brothers and two sisters living together as two married couples, and they're always getting into a wacky or rediculous situation.

(As you are specifying a tv comedy I'll assume that's real people, not cartoons)

This would have to be The Office.
Funny and pathetic at the same time.
Like an impending car crash that you can't look away from.
Ricky's writing was top class, but there was also a brilliant set of characters/actors that made you think that maybe it IS a documentary.

Sheer class

The Simpsons are the definitive show of comedy and has been for the last two decades and has a great lovable realistic family. I think it is better than Seinfeld, Family Guy and South Park.

Fawlty Towers - Don't know how far round the world it got, but in the UK it was huge - a situation comedy starring John Cleese as a hotel manager. It played very cleverly on human nature, and they only ever made 12 episodes but they are all great - left you gasping for more.

Gotta be The Police Squad!
It only ran for just six episodes but launched a ridiculous amount of films: The Naked Gun,The Naked Gun 2: The Smell Of Fear (1991), and The Naked Gun 33 and a Third: The Final Insult (1994), and loadsa other spoof films.
Check them out and enjoy.

South Park. It's hysterical, topical, and raunchy enough to grab adult attention as a cartoon. No TV show has ever been able to tackle current events with the satire and wit that South Park brings week in and week out. They're in their 10th season and just keep getting better!
