Right now, we have Citysearch for larger cities, but nothing for smaller towns or neighborhoods; however, just as many people need to know what is neat/hip/good there. I want to launch a site that does this, but want to make sure that I'm not overlooking another site that already does this.

Not to say it's a bad idea, but I'm fairly sure most towns and neighborhoods already have their own websites since it's so easy and a relatively cheap way to promote industry and tourism.

If you want to check for yourself, and doing your own research is always a good idea, start by doing a simple search of a town name and state, and see what hits come up. Try searching a specific attraction and see if you get any hits. Check the town's chamber of commerce to see if they have a site and what it says. Check also the nearest city website, and the official State website to see if there are links to local attractions or individual townships.

Here's something to think about:

There's a site that provides lists of towns with fewer than 1000 residents by state called city-data.com/smallTowns.html.

The very first town listed is Adak, Alaska. The population is 316.

I did a quick search. Yep, they have a website. See http://www.adakisland.com/
