go to eithor windows explorer or the my computer icon. Then go to tools folder options. Then select file types. Scroll down to html then eithor click change and select the program you want it to open with. If you want to view your files in IE but use notepad to edit them, then go to advanced.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but I know that Microsoft Frontpage is a program that deals with web editting. Perhaps try opening the HTML file in that program? Sorry!

what you want to do is associate .html with notepad you will need to do the following:

1) Open up My Computer.
2) Select TOOLS->FOLDER OPTIONS.
3) Select FILE TYPES.
4) Find HTML in the list, it should be showing up as an IE icon.
5) Click ADVANCED.
6) If it has Edit in the box on the left hand side then you need to click on the Edit button. If there isn't then you need to add one
7a) to add an action click ADD, then you have two input boxes ACTION and PROGRAM, in action type Edit. in Application type this, C:\WINDOWS\system32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1. Click ok.
7b) If you need to edit it then click edit, change the application listed in application to C:\WINDOWS\system32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1. Click ok.
8) Now you can click the set as default if you want to double click the .html files and open them up in notepad all the time. You can right click and you will see Edit and it will open up in notepad.
