if that person is your good friend office politics should not come between what you two have. you should not have to rob yourself of an opportunity b/c of something so trivial..why don't you speak to your friend about how you feel and lay down some limits if you have to, that way you know that no matter what may happen at work it would not affect your life outside of it.

I am working with a very good friend right now. We have been working together for the last 7 months. So far so good! I think you will be just fine working with them as long as you get along well most of the time

Take the job! You seem to be worried about a problem that does not exist. If you work hard, all day, every day, you will not have time to get involved in office politics. If your co-workers are professionals, they will respect you for your hard work.
Your best friend will remain your best friend. If she sees you immersing yourself in work, trying to do a good job, you may be an inspiration to her.
I used to work with people who called me "The Ayatollah." I treated it as if it were a compliment. It never bothered me.

I wouldn't take the chance of working in the same department as a good friend (though I have worked with a couple of my siblings). Is there no way that you could work in a different department? Good luck. :)

I shared an office with three girls, one of whom was my mother! It was great. We both worked hard to disprove the 'nepotism' theory, but it was fantastic knowing that someone always 'had my back'. As long as your friend hasn't been turned down for the position you're applying for, there's no reason to think that it can't work out perfectly well. Good luck!

It would be fine to work with a good friend. Just tell that person that if any arguments happen at work, that they stay at work.

well we have a family business and we fight ALOT!! but that doesn't mean its gonna happen to you too. maybe it will be fun having someone to work with who is a friend... u know like when u have lunch he/she has lunch as well and you could go have lunch together... but if a promotion is up? well i think you and your friend should decide that in that department... every man for himself/herself

Go for it, but i would be wary as you don;t want to damage a friendship.
