Yes, it's possible and here are 2 examples. James Jett (old Raiders WR) was actually part of the Barcelona Olympics in the 4x100 meter and won a Gold Medal. Willie Gault, he was part of a world record-setting 4 x 100 meters relay team, a 110 meter hurdler who would have gone to the 1980 Summer Olympics if the United States had not boycotted the event and a bobsledder (he made the American Olympic team on one occasion).
If you wanted to spend the time looking over history you'd see there have been MANY world class runners, sprinters and Olympiads that have gone into the NFL. The problem for many of these guys has been that they don't last long. Sprinters and runners don't have the muscle mass that NFL players do so when these guys get hit hard, it usually ends with something broken.
Renaldo Nehemiah was another pure runner, he got hit so hard one MNF game that he was carted off the field and had to retire after that game and just after a year or so with the S.F. Niners. Jett and Gault played longer but never put themselves in a position to get hit at all, they'd rather drop the ball than take the hit but their sheer speed allowed them to stay a long time in the NFL.
As for the current fast guys the current "Fastest Man of the NFL" is DeAngelo Hall of the Falcons, others in this class are Jerome Mathis, Bob Sanders and Steve Smith.

Not really. The fastest runners in the USA are on the USA Track and Field team, not the NFL. Also, you have to keep practicing how to effectively start out the blocks, pass the baton, and breathing techniques. NFL players are not focusing on the these things, so even a NFL player with speed might not win a track meet due to inexperience. Keep in mind that the NFL tries to recruit track stars of the 100 meter dash. They know the fastest Americans are runners on the USA track team.

They would absolutely get blown away. If Bullet Bob Hayes, Bo Jackson, Ron Brown and Darrell Green ran in their primes against today's sprinters they might have a slight chance. No team of current NFL players today would stand any chance whatsoever. There probably isn't a single player in the NFL that can run a sub-10 sec 100 meters. Again... no way!!

No, the fastest players in the NFL are people who accelerate and change direction fast. Of course, lots of people have have top speeds also, but it is less important, as there is very little straight running in the game.
Of course, "bullet" Bob Hayes could (and did) win in the olympics. (Two gold metals and a world record 100 meter dash, and an all pro wide receiver for the cowboys.) But he is he exception.

In the UK we once had a competition on a soccer TV show, where the fastest player on each team would do a 100m sprint, which eventually turned into a knockout competition of who is the quickest soccer player. Bearing in mind that these are also higly trained athletes, I seem to recall that few of them broke 11 seconds. The fastest time I have been able to find evidence of for a British soccer player is for Malcolm McDonald in 10.4 seconds on a TV show. I can't imagine NFL players being that much quicker.
If you can't find four athletes to beat 10.4 seconds, then you'll be losing to the UK in the 4x100m as well as "our event" the 4x400m. That'd be a silver for the USA, then.

Michael Vick, Donte Stallworth, Joey Galloway, Ladanian Tomilinson, Santana Moss, Randy Moss, Warrick Dunn, Donte Hall, Champ Bailey, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith are just a few of the fastest off the top of my head. They may be able to place in the 4 x 100.

NFL players have all that upper body strenghth, which adds weight and slows them down. 4 x 100 relay teams train specifically for their event and can perform better in it. NFL are better at changing direction quickly, but sprinters run straight/.
