standing in the rain, with his head hung low, couldnt get a ticket,it was a sold out show, heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene, put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream,he heard one guitar, just blew him away,he saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day,he bought a beat up six string,in a second hand store, didn't know how to play it but he knew for sure, that one guitar felt good in his hands, didn't take long to understand, just one guitar, slung way down low,was a one way ticket only one way to go,so, he started ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister got a Bass Guitar for Christmas and I used to sneak into her room when she was gone and play it, i'd play along with simple songs getting every note wrong, but eventually after a couple years I started getting it right. Just playing along developed my ear, then I moved on to learning six string guitar, i have played with many piano players so now my knowledge is pretty exstensive. Sometimes you just have to do something even if it's wrong, and as for my case I learned it and did it well after awhile. I was 13 then, now i'm 33.

My mom taught me a few basic chords back in 9th grade on a Fender classical guitar... I already had 10 years of musical training (piano, flute, vocal, etc) behind me so some of the concepts of learning to play guitar were fairly easy (rhythm, scales, chords, major/minor, octaves, etc).

I then bought my own acoustic guitar and learned to play new chords and finger-picking using online 'Tabs' or tabulature.

After that, trying to write songs and jamming with friends (acoustic and/or electric) helped teach me new songs and ways of playing.

Cheers
:)
