Everytime he takes his shoes off he smells them. Does everyone do this everytime they take them off? Oh, he does it before he puts them on too!

Maybe he doesn't want to offend anyone with foot odor. Or he is curious about his own smells. Or he is worried about something living in his shoes....... It is definitely a guy thing, although I check my shoes sometimes to make sure they aren't smelly. It is a wierd human quirk. Everyone does strange things like that. I wouldn't be too worried about it.
