Humanity initially created Gods to explain natural occurrances...things that weren't understood. As science became increasingly sophisticated God became more a means of control through a risk-reward model. Be a good person and treat others well go to heaven a reward; Be a bad person and treat others with disdain and go to hell risk. So far as I can tell there is no God...there is just being/existing and attempting to do so without disturbing / harming others and maintaing at least some respect for the environment.

Poets created God. How do I know? William Blake said so. Here is what is says in his groundbreaking work, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell:

The ancient Poets animated all sensible objects with Gods or Geniuses, calling them by the names and adorning them with the properties of woods, rivers, mountains, lakes, cities, nations, and whatever their enlarged & numerous senses could percieve.

And particularly they studied the genius of each city & country, placing it under its mental deity.

Till a system was formed, which some took advantage of & enslav'd the vulgar by attempting to realize or abstract the mental deities from their objects; thus began Priesthood.

Choosing forms of worship from poetic tales.
And a length they pronounc'd that the Gods had order'd such things.
Thus men forgot that All deities reside in the human breast.

Man created God, and God created us. We think, therefore he is.

As humans we are constanlty trying to prove to ourselves that there is something bigger than us, otherwise we have nothing to strive for.

Originally created as a means of primative governments of a few stong and powerful men to controll the masses using the idea of an omnipitent person who has the power to punish those who do not submit to his will. The creator, also being similar to the idea of a mother, we always strive to love thy mother and our creator since they brought us to this world and we should not look a gift hourse in the mouth.

When men no longer feared God, they decided to instead create the loving concept. Living in constant fear of something eventually creates people who desire to no longer live in fear and therefore no longer fear. When this happened and this alone was not adequate to control poeple they converted and refreshed it to be a loving God. Do wrong and ask for forgiveness and ye shal receive it.

Enough about that. . .Man created God, and God then in turn created us.

Unique Collective Awareness
Awareness Loves Life (ALL)
Life is a dream, we are the dreamer.
Nothing is absolute, everything is a matter of degree.

You can't control people if you don't have a God.
You can't hurt people or make them fear if you don't tell them they are fatally flawed in some way.
How could you sell health and womens magazines if people really knew they were God?
