What is the point of a-shirts?

i wanna know because my friends wear them and i always have wondered why do they wear them.

you mean an wife beater, its to cover up your chest when you wear a nice shirt

Guys call them wife beaters. I call them Husband Beaters. People wear them, maybe because it's hot. Or they use it as an undershirt.
