Tradition has the winner of the previous Cup and the host country getting automatic berths in the team playoffs. Recent changes to the rules will have the winner of the Cup try out like all the other countries, leaving only the host country to gain an automatic spot. (At least that's what I've heard. I could be mistaken.)

FIFA choses a country that has the football infrastructure and of course a national team. If the country dosen't have a national team, than he can't host the world cup.

No, the host country gets an automatic bid. So in 2010, South Africa will automatically be entered in te tournament.

no the host team automatically has a team in the WC. they don't have to play to qualify for the finals... so next WC we'll see the South African team in the finals.
