i ate VERY healthy and did yoga excercise until abou t7 months since 1 it hurt and second i was afraid of moving the fetus too much. (silly, but i was assured nothing was going to happen) I also stuck to a lot of calcium for the baby's bone structure and walked around the block a lot.

With my first pregnancy, I wasn't necessarily a couch potato, but I never worked out. I ate like a pig (although I did avoid the stuff you're not suppose to eat...swordfish, deli meat, a lot of tuna, alcohol, etc.) gained 80 pounds, had a 4 1/2 hour labor (including only 30 minutes of pushing), didn't remember a d@mn thing they told me at child birth class, and lost all but 10 pounds after he was born. I have a large frame, and I'm tall, so I carried it well. I was actually a little underweight when I became pregnant, so it's all good. :)
With my second one, I gained roughly 40 pounds, was very VERY active (chasing around my first baby), and had an emergency c-section two weeks before my due date (when I had BH contractions, it was putting pressure on him and making his heart rate drop) and as of today (my second born is going to be a year in about a week) have lost all but that same damn 10 pounds!!! Then again, I still don't work out at a gym. Chasing around my two boys is workout enough! I guess I shouldn't complain if I'm not doing anything about it. I love my new body though...before I was too thin and angular. Now I have boobs and hips...I'm finally a woman! LOL

I worked out regularly before I got pregnant. Then, during pregnancy, I continued to work out during the first trimester. Once I hit the second trimester, I switched to a fast 45 minute walk every morning and that helped keep my cardio routine going and my legs toned. I also occasionally used pre-natal yoga DVD and did other stretches.
As for watching my diet, the main thing I did was to eat healthy food, but not limit how much I ate. If I was hungry, I ate. But I didn't eat sweets or bad things like fried food - just good, wholesome, healthy food. I ate a lot of salads for dinner and plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean protein (I did this while nursing too - my now 2-year old loves salads and veggies and fruit and I think it's because of what I ate)
I gained a total of 28 pounds, which is pretty good. Next time around, I would do exactly the same thing, but probably up my intake of lean protein and calcium.
Make every bite count. Remember, you only need to eat 300 extra calories per day during pregnancy - it's not a license to eat with abandon.
Best of luck!

I stopped watching what I eat to a certain extent. Certain cravings wouldn't go away, and it interfered w/sleeping, and simply functioning!!! Of course I've gained more than I had anticipated, but some pregnant women just can't continue living as they were. I've tried some excerises, but I just feel so heavy!!!! Walking seems to be the easiest way, but lately, walking causes some severe abdominal cramps. I've been told to do as my body tells me to, and right now that is to just relax, and move as my body allows me to.
