Unless you have been treated for a yeast infection before, don't assume that is what is wrong. Visit your doctor first to make sure a yeast infection is what you have. However, if you are absolutely sure that is what you have based on previous experience get some OTC medication, such as Monistat or any other brand of yeast infection treatment. Generic also works just as well as name brand, and it's a money saver. Don't have sex during your treatment, unless you use condoms. You can give your partner a yeast infection, which can prolong your infection especially if you keep passing back and forth. I would also suggest trying Acidophilus, it's an herbal remedy that comes in a liquid or pill form. It can be found in most stores. This can be used as a substitute for eating yogurt, and it also has some other benefits. Taking Acidophilus will also help prevent future yeast infections.

Good Luck!

I grew up having problems with yeast infections and I found out that if you take baths in the tub all of the time it will cause you to have yeast infections. I started taking showers and that was a lot better for me. If I am taking antibiotics yeast infections occur and what I normally do I would go to my obgyn doctor to get a prescription. They have a pill you can take for two days and that's it. I also, found out too that if you have yeast infections that you might have diabetes. I'm not saying that you have it, but you might want to check on that. Just pay attention to the way you bathe, if you swim a lot,or taking medications that maybe causing you to have repeated yeast infections. Oh, are you allergic to certain soaps or do you use deodorant pads/tampoons? If you are using deodorant products leave them alone. I hope this will help.

Yogurt....buy plain yogurt that contains live lactobacillus acidophilus culture and insert into your vagina (yes, that's what I said) just like you would Monistat. Also eating yogurt with the live cultures frequently will help regulate the flora in the vagina.

For the above answerer, yeast infections are not necessarily a sexual disease. They occur when the normal flora balance is disrupted by stress or antibiotic use.

And for the answerer below, it has nothign to do with not washing properly.

If you mean a vaginal yeast infection, there's over the counter medication you can get. Vinegar & water douches help, too. They are also sold over the counter but you can make your own. Ask a pharmacist for the correct dilution.
