Some do, depends on how the family relates to him. Or it could be he's hiding something. Watch out if he tries to keep you from them and your friends he is going to be a control freak.

When I met my gf's family for the first time, they were in town for her graduation. And EVERYONE was there---grandma, grandpops, sister, brother, step sister, step mother, dad, mom, stepdad.....it was a little nerveracking.
But I did it and would do it again...because it meant a lot to her, and that's what was important. Any decent guy knows and will do this....if he cares about the girl enough.
Yes it can be intimidating, but if he really loved you, he would grin and bear it out of respect for you. The fact that he doesn't.....and that he is your fiance and will be MARRYINGinto the family does not bode well for future peace and happiness....
get a new man. Find one who loves you enough to be cooperative and be there and supportive for YOU.

Perhaps he does not feel welcome. you have not told us the whole story;
Do the family like him or are they critical of his behavior, job, dress, attitude? Do they think you could have done better in your choice? Maybe you come from a family of money and they have done a background investigation through their contacts and suspect him of being only after money.
Perhaps even if they do not say things to his face he can pick up on their feelings and is uncomfortable

some might, but it might jsut be that he has the feeling that the family does not like him....you need to find out wht his problem is before y'all get married b/c there is no undoing it then.
