Firefox isn't working properly. Internet Explorer showed websites perfectly. All HTML was showing correct. But I recently downloaded Firefox and it doesn't show webpages properly. Like SCROLL BARS with color.... it doesn't show in Firefox. And Borders and Tables don't show either. ??? Is something wrong? Can I do anything to fix it?

For example, my website doesn't show properly in Firefox:
http://www.xanga.com/Addicting_Layouts

The scroll bars don't show properly in Firefox. ???

Different browsers render a little differently. Some html is not recognized by all browsers. It is very common for sites to not render correctly in Firefox because it is less tolerant to errors in the html. Most likely, the code was not written well or not written to accommodate browsers other than IE that don't recognize certain pieces of html code that IE does. I can't even access the sites I have to use in my job from Firefox. They don't play well together.

Not all webpages should show up poorly, though. Something big like Yahoo or Google should be well written to work well with Firefox.

I've encountered that before with FireFox. I love FireFox and all, but IE is the most used, and formatted browser. When designers build webpages, they build them with IE in mind because the majority of the people use IE. Sometimes FireFox interpretes HTML a little differently than IE.

Newer and more modern websites tend to work well with Firefox. And since IE7 will be quite similar to Firefox.....sites designed for it should also look good with the Fox.

(Regardless of occasional problems, i will never go back to IE, whatever number they give it. Give Firefox a chance, i think you'll find it superior in most ways. I certainly do.)

That is because most websites are made to work especially with IE. Firefox is using a similar software but it can't do everything like IE does due to copyright and patents. That is why a lot of sites say, "this site works best with IE version xxx"

there a couple ways to fix this: -create separate pages for separate browsers, and then create a javascript program that figures out what browser the webpage is being viewed in, and redirecting to the correct page -create separate webpages for separate browsers, with an index page that asks what browser you are viewing with, with links to each browser-specific page. -troubleshoot by hit-and-miss to create one page that works with the browsers you are working with. there is no fullproof way to guard against viewing problems with different browsers unless you have a different page for each browser. for instance, mozilla firefox doesn't allow marquees, or transparencies. IE allows the most features that i know of to date.

Firefox doesn't recognize the scrollbar commands, so it won't change the scrollbar.
