You have to meet certain requirements. Think of all the good you can do for someone in need. They will not draw your blood if you are under weight or cannot afford to loose the minimum of 450ml.
Your body will replace this amount of blood by the next day. We told donors to go home and have a steak for dinner. A spinach salad will be as close to that as possible.

Eat well before you go. Don't worry it doesn't hurt all you feel is the stick when they put the IV in. Just think about how scared the 100000's people who need that blood are. And some might not get it and .... well die. So, go ahead, don't be scared it's really impowering and a great thing for every one. Bring a buddy who has done it before. GO YOU!

I hope this helps you. I donate blood often. They take one pint.

It has never done me any harm. I feel a bit tired that evening, and thirsty, so I drink a lot of water, and rest a bit. Other than that, I am always fine.

Think of how many people can be helped, maybe lives saved, from something that costs you nothing, that your body will replace anyway!

I hope you are able to do it, whenever you are ready. :-))

Stuff your face with the snacks they give you and when they stick you, don't watch them. Just concentrate on the t.v. or something. Like they always tell you, it just feels like a little pinch and then it's over. About the amount of blood they take, don't worry, unless you're a sixty pound midget, they don't take enough to hurt you.
