Sven excuses.... he blames the... 'set pieces' you see... I still think that guy is the WORST thing that happen to England internatioal football. I dunno anymore... Supporters were at the game were BORED and silent... British TV commentators were lying to themselves... fishing for things to comment on... Engliahs fans have no more illusions. My view, keep Joe Cole, Beckham, Gerrard and Lanpard and wrap the rest in a bundle, glue it with Rooney thread and chuck them away... Well, there is always the World Cup of 2010 to hope for... Please guys, discuss and thanks !!! My heart has gone somewhere and is not here...

'rdcoco' said "Sweden is the best the England has played" -- that is precisely what the whole of England is so low about... Sweden is one of the weakest teams in the WC'06 and England has had the luck to face only the weakest teams in this WCup and lookck at their performances.

I promise this is the last one... GIVE THE JOB TO MOURINHO and you will see half the English team FIRED !! And see him start bringing in YOUNG and ENTHUSIASTIC and TRUE English talent. There is so much of it out here... Sven is a weakling, influenced by players fame "Ahhh this is a famous English player and he was signed by Nike and Sony so I will give him the midfield position... THE GREATEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD WERE NOT FAMOUS PLAYERS WHEN THEY STARTED... PELE... EUSEBIO... they were beginners !!!

Sweden are about the only team at this world cup that will cause problems for anyone from set pieces, but when did they threaten from open play?

I think we've got enough at set pieces to cope with most other teams at this world cup and if we keep creating chances from open play then i think we'll get the better of most teams bar Argentina, Brazil and Spain. come-on guys be more positive..

You said name a Serious success since Sven became England manager. Have you forgotten that when he took over England weren't going to the World Cup 2002 because they had just lost to Germany at Home in the Qualifiers? Under Sven we came back to beat Germany Away 5-1 and qualified. Euro 2004 against Portugal we had a late goal disallowed for pushing when the reply showed nothing, other wise it would have been us that played Greece in the Final. World Cup 2002 we went out to a fluky free kick from Ronaldinho that he claimed he meant. Since when do you try to chip the goalie from 45 yards out? It was a chip into the box for someone to get on the end of, he just over hit it.

So we come to this World cup and England are doing so Badddd.. according to you Mr Football expert. Were unbeaten, Top of the Group. Easiest 2nd round match of any team now we've got Ecuador and you just want to ***** and moan.. Why? Do you really think that when this England team face Holland, Argentina, Brazil or any other Top class team that they are incapable of raising their game? I Think your just Showing your age. have you done your homework? Stupid Boy!!

Personally, this is the best England team I've seen in this World Cup. They weren't playing long balls, they were knocking the ball around on the ground and they were getting everyone involved. Sweden played their hearts out today and we I give them alot of credit for their efforts. I think Wayne Rooney should have played the whole 90 mins, thats the only mistake Sven made today.
Proof: None of England's goal came from a set piece. That shows they can beat any team on any given day and they never gave up. Bring on Germany or Ecuador.....God Bless the Queen

Owens early injury completely screwed the tactics for about ten minutes as the team struggled to change the game plan back to one which accomodated Crouch. After that however I thought the rest of the first half was ok with England showing some of the potential that we have been waiting for. As always however I dreaded half time because in this competition (1998, 2002, etc) the team which comes out after the break must be full of "celebrity look alikes", because they look the same but play like they have never seen a football in their lives. Tired (isn't this what they do for a living?), panicy, un-coordinated, lacking enthusiasm or cohesion. I was amazed by the lack of movement off the ball or creation of space when we had possesion. Joe Cole was brilliant and Rooney ran his heart out and is getting better and better. We just need the rest of the pampered pooches to start dreaming of England rather than Gucci.

england played good, but when they got a lead, they just stood back. i mean they know that they havent beaten sweden in 40 years, and they knew that it's not gonna happen this time either. i think they were just playing for the tie. but they played much better than their other two games. they have a chance, if they try not to make mistakes and play more aggresively. but everybody gets tired eventually, so it's not as easy as it sounds. it's easy to be in the stands the whole time and cheer, but it's not easy to play football for 90 minutes and not get tired.
sweden might be weak, but that doesnt mean it'd be easy for england to win. geographically, england and sweden are very close. when you play a neiboring country, it's not that easy to win. look at the germany vs. poland match. poland is the weakest team in the group and yet they allowed germany only one goal. and you can tell that germany's not weak, cause they beat the crap out of equador, which had first place at the group.

The team is playing better. Do not get down, considering Sweden is the best the England has played in this World Cup. I think they can take Equador and will see them in the final 8.

Hey I don't like that Sven either. But England played really good in terms of avoiding second place, injuries and cards. Owen got injuries by himself. I think England just got what they wanted from this game except for what happened to Owen. Defense has to improve. I think they will play better with better teams. Don't think negative.

Go England!!!

i agree...and why can't england get an english manager???? the team's gone downhill ever since he stepped up....can't we get someone like clough or robbo...

next game it's robinson ( tha guy sucks but we've got nobody else good), ashley cole, joe cole, gerrard, lampard, TERRY (give him the captain's armband), carragher, crouch (not rooney- he's acting like a child), beckham, and two more.... i don't know how my formation's 4-4-2, but that's it... imho anyway....
