Because it look's gay , but hey, you get to totally look up the cheerleaders skirt when you are holding them up, right?

The same reason they make fun of guy ballerinas. I think if you want to be a guy cheerleader, you should have to wear the skirt too.

well, here at the old continent we simply laugh at cheerleaders and think it's a ridicoulus custom... so american that it's laughable, together with jumping around shouting stupid lyrics... but hey, here we have other ways of appreciating sports (such as shouting, waving flags, drinking beer having fights...) who can say which is better?
