right now I can only burn single layer at 6X and DL at 2.4. My drive can handle faster speeds. Is is the burner, the disks, the computer, the software?? I have the software set to max speed

Yeah, you need a faster burner, I burn mine at 16X.

It can be a combination of the burner, the discs and the software. Nero is probably the fastest but I had CDs that were rated at 16x that would only burn at 8x on a 40x combo burner.

get yourself a faster dvd drive mine runs at 7200 rpm they can go faster the one i got can burn cds in just under two mins and dvd under a minute

get a new burner. my maddog burner does DL @ 16X. it cost me $50.

turn up the speed but it will make your dvd sucky
