What’s the main difference between Bank and Banc and where did the change in spelling originate?

in the us, most states do not allow the use of the word "bank" by business that are not in the banking business, those businesses that want to imply that they are tangential to banking, such as a bank holding company, use the word banc to imply their association with a bank.

Banc is the French word for Bank. The change in spelling comes from a change in language.
