I known someone who is 5'6" and likes to play it but wishes he could dunk a ball into the net. I've been told it's 5'8" but need a certified answer along with the history and reason why. Has the height ever changed as well?

I think it's 5'5, though they've recently raised it as part of the barganing agreement last year, I think it's now 5'9 I think.

I am not aware of a height minimum. But, you must know that the shorter you are, the faster and quicker you have to be. You also have to have a very quick shot release. Mugsy Bogues was shortest player at 5'3. Current shortest player is Earl Boykins at 5'5.

It is an NBA rule that your feet must touch the ground when in the chairs on the sideline. This rule, tragically, prevented the famous midget, Tyrone "Tiny" Tindale, from playing in the NBA. He was forced to play in the World Midget Basketball League, where he currently stars for the Bermuda Shorts.

There is no minimum height requirement to play in the NBA. If you've got game, then you can play. Or you can be a scrub and get lucky to sit on the bench and get paid $400,000 a year.

there is no minimum... you just need skills.....Mugsy Bogues (Coach for the Dallas Mavericks) is only 5' 3" and he played in the NBA for years...and I also think Earl Boykins of The Nuggets is 5' 6"...so there is always hope....if you can ball that's all that matters.

There has NEVER been a height requirement. Size only matters as far as strategy and skill.

There is no requirement. Muggsy Bogues (of the Charlotte Hornets) was only 5'3'' and was an excellent player.
