Soccer is an Amarican word. It was presumably invented because the Americans invented their own football which is a totally different game.

In other countries football or futbol is soccer. But in the states its 2 diferent sports.

It's only called soccer in the U.S. because there already is a sport called football in the States.

In North AMerica ...as you know Football is a whole other game ( where people carry the football in their hands and it has nothing to do with their feet . So instead they call it soccer ...while other country call it FUTEBALL

In the US its called soccer for reasons I'll never know (and the game they do call football has nothing to do with your feet). The rest of the world calls it Futball.
