I've always wondered that too. I think that Washington and Lincoln are more important than MLK to American History. I think that MLK was a great man and did great things, but he didn't go nearly as much as our early presidents did.

Yes Lincoln free slaves but he didn't make the segregation go away. Yes Lincoln and Washington were great presidents but they still didn't use their power to better the human and make all Americans to live equally. Martin Luther King without even half of the power they had were able to awake populations on the disastrous situation of minorities. Thanks to MLK if America is what it is today. Last but not least There is 42 past presidents and if you ask , each of them did something great. So it's just fair to celebrate them all at the same time. Anyway after all we have to go to work and make money this is AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!

we do its called president's day. it was put in Feburary to honor both presidents birthdays. What's wrong with celebrating Martin Luther King? His sacrifice was just as great as Lincoln's if not greater. Lincoln, until his death, lived with the priviledges of a white man of his time. Martin Luther King Jr knew the suffering of the black people. His dream to overcome the obstacles set upon his people is slowly coming true. Although there are still organizations today that hold on to the racism of the past. It's largely been eliminated.

No he did not, just as Pharaoh did not free Israel. God got in their spirit to make them free his people. Neither did it on there own, after the spirit of God left them they then realize what were they thinking. Both regret what they did afterwards.
Lincoln did not unite the country just made it worst with more hate and oppression towards blacks which lasted 100 years latter until MLK united America. You may think it's as all about slavery untrue, slavery last over 200 years but blacks will say 400 years of oppression. Because Blacks were oppress as slaves the same way they were oppress as free. 100 years after slavery was illegal blacks still couldn't even vote in some places. King help end 400 years of oppression, believe me Lincoln made a big step helping to free slaves. But the free slaves burdens was the same. Like Jesse, Louis, Al they only benefit blacks with their words but King words got him respect form both sides. See Jesse and Al and others, didn't want just equality they want a reap what you sow kinda thing. They wanted whites to pay for their exploitations of Blacks even in the 1960's they would have had a case but it never would have won over with white America. They plan didn't work because you can't make a nation they wanted them to be second class citizens, to go to first class citizens, equality have to come first. If someone was treated the way a blacks were in the 1960's they would get sued millions. Which whites did want to hear and to pay that to millions of blacks, that would have never ended segregation. If MLK words were never said we would still be segregated. Because others activist would have kept the whites mad because they wanted pay back. Whites related to Kings word and didn't think it was to hard to do. King won over both side which deserves to be honored.

Lincoln didn't "free" anyone. Read the Emancipation Proclamation in total. Don't just take someones word for it.
As for Martin Luther King, he deserves his place in Hell. See the link below for the truth about that communist POS.

We celebrate Presidents day. Why should we celebrate Lincoln? Because of what THEY teach you in school? Read about him for yourself!

We have president's day as an all-inclusive holiday for our past presidents. I know, its a cheap way of getting out of it, but we can't have 40 separate holidays for each president.
