actually i've been following bauhaus and thier offshoots since 1979 as well as the sisters of mercy, the sisterhood and the mission since 1985.listen to later tracks<90's> and you will get the idea.i'm not a goth i just like decent music.

I wouldn't consider Marilyn Manson a Bauhaus Rip off or the Sisters of Mercy for that matter. They are certainly all goth influenced bands and Bauhaus are the pioneers of the scene, but if you're getting picky about rip offs, doesn't Bauhaus rip off some of Kraftwerks ideas to make their sound? I think so, but it's just personal opinion. Personally, I perfer the word "influenced" as oppossed to rip off unless it's totally blatent.

Sisters of mercy by ability of a feather. i think the sisters were better consistent than Bauhaus... With that stated I do recommend the authentic SOM, no longer some thing after First and intensely last.... Bauhaus made some large stuff yet a number of it replaced right into somewhat weird and wonderful as well! 2 remarkable bands although!!!

Are you kidding me? Andrew Eldritch (the lead singer of the sisters) is the godfather of goth. Before the sisters, the genre was slightly different - called the new romantics. A rip off? i think not. perhaps just two bands in the same genre. By your words, the Michelangelo is a ripoff of daVinci. sigh.

Sisters of Mercy were never a rip off of bauhaus. I loved them, they were more gothic pop and so different to everything else in the charts at the time. They still sound good in my car!

That's difficult. He has done so many cover versions, that all he is known for. If he is a ripoff of anything then he is just a representation of the oh-so-not-cool Goth culture which everyone wanted to join (but not me) and that has lost it's ability to shock and its image.
