Activities are usually cheaper than dinners/ movies/etc. Miniature golf is usually pretty reasonable, plus it gives you a good chance to talk. Usually two people can go for less than $15 on a week night. Walks are nice. If you find an athletic girl that likes sports, etc. then a game of tennis, basketball, might be good. A lot of community centers also have dance lessons/ classes that might be fun and they are usually inexpensive (either by donation or $5 a person).
You could also be creative. Spend an hour painting together. Go stargazing. Take a tour of a historical site nearby. Inexpensive dates generally require a little more thought than the normal dates.

Go for a 'gallery walk'. Most art galleries want to show their paintings for sale but know that the majority of people are there just to look. They have lots of time to spend answering your questions, too. Sometimes they even serve wine and cheese for free. The galleries are often located in bunches along one street or in a few square blocks of each other. This date can end at a coffee shop. You look rich and spend almost nothing.

A cheap fun way to date is to be taken out for fish n chips, by the lake in a park, or go to museums, cinema, go watch plays, conventions, balti resturants ect.

pack a picnic lunch and spend the day at the park. Find one with a lake and some ducks and just relax and enjoy.
