I want to know honest answers on how I can avoid this after having a previous history with it, please and preferably some references. Thanks

There is no way to really avoid it. I had it with my first son and got really sick and bled heavily. I would suggest breastfeeding because this contracts your uterus and pushes things out. If your last pregnancy was premature than there isn't much you can do. Just hope for the best.
