The Oilers lost the series when they lost game 1.
They lead 3-1 at the end of the second period of game 1. They allowed Carolina to score 4 goals (3 of them past Roloson in a span of less than 9 minutes) in the third period and win game 1.
If you're up by 2 goals at the end of the second period, and you aren't good enough to finish it off and win the game, you aren't going to win the series. If you cannot hold a two goal lead for 20 minutes, you're not a good enough team.
Carolina played a great game 7, they beat the Oilers, the Oilers did not blow game 7. It was blowing game 1 that was the problem.

I don't think the blame falls on any one player or group of players. The Hurricanes came out hard, scoring the early goal and didn't let up. Edmonton just didn't look like they did in the previous two games and looked flat footed. By the time they got some serious pressure and a goal early in the third it was too late.
Edmonton has much to be proud of but on this particular night Carolina was just the better team. There was no shame in how Edmonton played, Carolina just played better.

I think Carolina won it from Edmonton, not the other way around. Edmonton played a good hard game but they didn't give as much in game 7 as the Hurricanes did. With guys like Brind amore and Wesley leading a team of youngsters, Edmonton didn't have a chance. Add the play of Cam Ward in net on top of that, and that's why Edmonton lost. Carolina simply outplayed them.

No one lost for the Oilers. They never gave up and had numerous chances in the third period. Cam Ward earned the Conn Smythe Trophy in those last 20 minutes.

The forwards, they were to busy playing defence when they shouldn't, had they attacked right away from the first drop of the puck as they did in games 5 and 6, the Cup would be in Edmonton by now.

Jussi Markkanen rocks...from a Ranger fan...on a serious not, I do not think it was anyone in particular that should take blame for the loss of the game...the Oilers put up a good fight!

The whole team. I don't think anyone really lost the game for them. Carolina just did a better job on defence. Kevin Adams took one in the fore arm that probably would have gone in otherwise.
Both teams played wonderfully, but Carolina came out on top.

I say the coaching and the team in general. They did not play like they did in game 6. The Canes had more heart and are deserving of the Cup. Go Canes!!

The whole team lost it for them. They didn't play with the heat that they did in games 5 and 6. They were slow and took to many penalties as a whole.

The Carolina Hurricanes!!!
Who do you think???
Do you really think that Edmonton was good enough to win
the cup this year??
The only surprise was that the 'Canes didn't take it in 5!!
P.S. I am an AVS fan, I just understand the game and can see
the truth!!
