People don't seem to understand that there are no rules to war. War is not a game. It is not something that has limitations.

When the soldier is on the battle field, he doesn't have time to think of the friendliest and most humane way of killing his adversary. He just wants to make the other guy dead as quickly as possible, for the sake of his own survival.

Prisoners must be treated like the enemy, because you never know when an enemy prisoner will kill to be free. Likewise, information carried by an enemy prisoner may have life or death consequences for the opposing side. This voids any traditional concept of the "rights of the accused." The enemy is accused of nothing but being the enemy.

Likewise, the term "non-combatants" has virtually disappeared in the last few decades. When "civilians" try to kill soldiers, they cease to be civilians. Unfortunately, this happens too often. But in such circumstances, don't tell a soldier to hold his fire while trying to keep a straight face.

Warfare is the most degenerate and animalistic state of mankind. This is the reason why war is terrible, and should always be the last resort. This is also the reason why when we MUST go to war, we must do so as horrifyingly and viciously as possible.

The only way to prevent war, is to make the concept of waging war too costly to bear. This is why Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary and effective, and why there has not, to this day, been a World War III.

It does not matter, nations that signed the agreement were agreeing to follow it's rules.

Article 2

In addition to the provisions which shall be implemented in peace time, the present Convention shall apply to all cases of declared war or of any other armed conflict which may arise between two or more of the High Contracting Parties, even if the state of war is not recognized by one of them.

Not really a rule, warfare is warfare anyway you do it. Unfortunately in this country we have a lot of bleeding hearts. They want someone to protect them, but don't want anyone killed to do it. They need to open their eyes and let the military do what they have too.

As a former US soldier, we learned that the OTHER SIDE doesn't follow warfare rules, but that WE are the CIVILIZED ones, who must obey the law.

What I SAY, though, is: DO UNTO THEM AS THEY WOULD DO UNTO YOU!!!
And do it first!
