It depends on what you mean by pets. Ants often use aphids. They will place aphids on underground roots and eat their secretions. Many animals work with smaller symbiotic animals (like hippos and those birds, or sharks and the little fish that swim with them. I'm too lazy to look up the names at the moment). These might be considered pets.
You frequently find mothers of one species "adopting" babies of other species. Are these pets? Perhaps. I wouldn't call them that, as they're treated equally with real offspring.
Do a quick google of "Koko's kitten" and you'll find an interesting story about a gorilla in captivity who had a pet kitten. I don't know if that has ever been documented in the wild.
Hope this helps.

Captive apes have kept kittens and cats as pets and companions and took care of them. Certain animals live with other animals and codepend on them in order to survive, such as the rhino with a particular bird that feeds off of parasites on the rhino's flesh so that the rhino stays unbothered and healthy and the bird remains fed, but that's not exactly a pet.

Actually no, I saw on the discovery channel one time that ants have caterpillars as pets . The ants milk the caterpillars' glands for a sweet secretion, like honey, and in turn the caterpillars use the ants for protection. LOL they actually walk them down the tree to eat leaves, etc and walk them back up when its time to go in!

My dog has a pet turtle. He resides in our pond, and my dog will just sit there and watch him for hours- and doesn't try to kill him, as she does w/ any other animal that comes into our yard. Plus, when my sister's dog comes over to visit, my dog snaps at him if he gets near the turtle.

If you can imagine the hippo - there is birds almost living on it feeding themselves with flees and scurves from its skin. Can those be the hippo's pets?

The gorilla was Koko and he named the kitten "All-Ball", but I don't know if the kitten was his pet...or his friend. It may have been both!

No, other animals establish cross-species friendships occasionally too.
