If you are doing an install your installation media could have a scratch or be corrupted. Either borrow a copy to see if you can get past the file or try doing a clean install including a reformat of the drive.

i presume that it is when it is copying files just before instalation when you get this error message
this is normally due for 2 reasons ,your disc is either scratched ,dirty,or damaged so your optical drive cannot recognize the data on the xp disc,or you are using a corrupt copy of xp,either way you need to get a new copy of xp
you could try using a lens cleaner on your optical drive as a dirty lens could be the reason for missing info during instalation,you can normally buy these very cheaply from computer and eletrical shops

restart computer and boot from windows install disc. reinstall windows and you shouldnt have a problem. and be a little more specific with your question...Oo
