Soccer is "the game of gentlemen" !!!!!!
Be a gentleman and stick to what you like and show respect for what they like and or their preferences.
It seems that your firends are small minded and ignorant.
Soccer is a WORLD SPORT, played in more countries than any other sport.
Soccer moves nations, stops nations and brings people together!!
Ignore the comments of your friends (friends?) just let them know that they should get informed.
some stats:
Today Soccer is played on all five continents.
It is the world's largest spectator sport.
The world cup 2002 was watched by a a cumulative in-home audience of 28.8 billion viewers.
46 million viewers watched the 2002 WC England v Brazil quarter final match. - source FIFA
The English Premier League - widely regarded as the world's best league is telecast weekly to 163 countries attracting an audiece of 550 million. - source TPS
" Fueled by the capture of eight Premier League championships during the past 11 years, England's Manchester United pulled in $289 million in revenue last season.
That figure makes the team worth, we estimate, $1.2 billion and thus the most valuable in soccer.
By comparison, the top American franchise, football's Washington Redskins, is worth but $952." - source Forbes Magazine.

They are a bunch of arrogent ***** and not your real friends if they keep messing with you about soccer, even if you confront them again!
Tell them Basketball is for "thugs and street hounds" and find REAL Friends and/or fellow soccer fans.
Good luck and don't be embaressed for being a futbol fanatic!

My opinion is that if you tell them to stop and they won't you need to pick new friends or just keep soccer and them seperate. Soccer rocks ignore them. If that doesn't work make a few cracks about their precious b-ball and see how they like it.

If they're not willing to listen to you then just ignore their comments. (sucks for them though!) Some people just need to realize that when it comes down to things like sports like that, you can't just make somebody LIKE a sport like you do. If people don't get a sport, they don't get it. Period. If that doesn't work shove soccer down their throats and they'll come around sometime. :)

While I tend to agree with them, I can give you a decent response.
"Soccer's not stupid, it's just more complex than (pick your sport to slam), and not as easy for the uneducated to understand."

well next time they tell you that it is stupid tell them that it is important to you, and that you love the sport. and just from me to you if they were your real friends they wouldnt make fun of something that is important to you. They should respect you and the sport that you love.

Just let it go, forget about it, stop caring. You like it and that's all that matters.
