Because celebs are regarded as trend setters. If the public sees them wearing or using a certain product its a free ad to the consumer by the manufacturer.

The merchants know that if a celeb wears or uses something that they were given by the merchant that sales of that particular item will increase. Sometimes the increase is substantial. It depends on the celeb and the product itself. Since celebs get publicity that regular folks don't get, merchants see it as an investment rather than just giving stuff to celebs.

Celebrities get free stuff because companies believe if the general public sees them with their product, they will buy it. If you love Kobe Bryant and he wears a certain brand of sports shoes, people will be influenced to buy them because they think Kobe is cool.

They get free stuff cuz when they go around wearing those things or holding those things its like advertisement for the public eye and then eventually the public will buy them.

That's because it's FREE ADVERTISING for the companies that provide the freebies. Advertising in print and media is EXPENSIVE, but give a celeb something for free -- and they like it -- they display it as they're out and about -- big time advertising for free. Seems wrong somehow, doesn't it?

They get stuff for free so when the people who worship them see the accessories they have and want to buy it. It's cheaper than paying for advertising.

So that they are seen wearing it and reporters always ask what are you wearing. It is free advertising. And I guess they hope that later on they will come back to them and spend big bucks when they buy gifts for friends and family.

It's supposed to be free publicity for the company for a "somebody" to be seen using their product.
I know it sucks! So unfair!

We worship celebrities, so what they have on, we want it also. For a celebrity to sport your stuff, give it free.
How many people want to buy things that you have? Probably one to none.
