Oh my gosh. Go out an buy a cute little mac computer. It comes with this program called dashboard, which is made for the kind of situation you're in. You can download all these cool "widgets", which are like mini games and fun stuff you can do. And the cool thing is you can have something open on your computer like a document or something that looks important and makes you look like you're working. Then you open dashboard and play the games and stuff and if someone comes by you just quickly click off the dashboard and the whole program goes away! Dashboard was developed for bored people at work like yourself. It's awesome.

Wow...some great ideas on here huh? lol
I am in the same boat as you! For the summer anyway...this is our slow time so I also sit and stare at a computer all day. Thank God my boss doesn't care if I email and surf the web all day. I have become addicted to Yahoo Answers for one! I also Google everyone I can think of! I play games on Yahoo and Pogo. I would love to sit here and read but I can't do that either.
Sometimes I even go on My Space just to laugh at the idiots on there. Good luck!

I know what you mean. Working where I do I just sit all day and wait for the phone to ring. I just surf the web and that gets so boring. I really don't know what to tell you buddy. Except for one thing: I'm still in school so this is my motivation to finish. Once I'm done, I won't have to worry about a meaningless boring job. I will be the one making the office turn:)

If you are interested in reading, but want to avoid looking unprofessional, you could purchase some e-books online (google for some stores) and read those on your office computer.

I suppose that you have an internet connection at your office, so you can start a blog of your own and write down anything that comes to your mind at the moment. Soon after, you won't notice the time! Try www.blogger.com it's the best!

While on your computer, when the person next to you gets up to use the restroom or whatever, unplug his keyboard. Then plug your keyboard in to his computer. When he gets back, start typing thing for him...start with, "Hey, Welcome Back"
or
put a picture of a monkey or some other creature or animal over the current employee of the month self portrait.

You can tickle your berry and daydream aba-oot me ... but that is up to you, or, you could watch Trailer Park Boys on your cine-player and minimize the window so nobody can see, or you could pick your nose, or, you could get DDT kicked off and make him lose all his points and Q&A's, or, you could study the dictionary and learn how to litrerate English in an intelligible manner, or you could just listen to Avril CD's--' I couldn't tell you why she felt that way ... she felt it ev-er-y day', or you could just sit on your chair and cut the cheese ...

I don't really see why tou can't read a book, it does not look unprofessional. Well if you can't read then put something on your computer like install the a card game if you like cards. Or if you want you could write down your plans for the rest of the weak, think about wat you want to do at home, wat movie you want to get, or think about wich friends you want to have over.

Spend your time thinking of the ideal architecture for a democratic government and how to make it real. We all would appreciate it.
