The way vision works is that light from a light source (sun, lamp, etc) strikes an object. Some of the light is reflected. A red object reflects mostly red light, a blue object reflects mostly blue light, etc. This is how we see. A shadow is formed when the light that reflects or is absorbed is unable to pass through an object. The wall on the other side of this object then has less light than the wall around it.
An object that is invisible does not reflect or absorb light. This can be a sci-fi cloaking device or something that really is invisible, like radio waves or water vapor. If it doesn't reflect or absorb light, then the light passes through it and doesn't make a shadow. This is going to be true of sci-fi invisibility where light is bent around an object.
There are a couple of stories where invisibility is only a mind-affecting illusion. You don't see somebody because you are, for whatever reason, choosing not to see them. They're invisible because hypnosis, drugs, or some other mechanism make you think you don't see them. In this case, the light really is reflected or absorbed and you're ignoring it. A shadow would be present, but the drug/hypnosis/whatever might make you ignore that as well.
Hope this helps.

No. Shadow can only be there when there is light being blocked by something visible. If you're invisible light will simply just pass through you.

What would be the point of being invisible, if they still know I'm there?

No because if you were invivible light would not be blocked in order to form the shadow. It would pass through you.
