Your local library.

Most regional library systems let you select and reserve books online. You do have to drive to the library to actually pick them up, but other than that it's almost 100% like netflix.

Good luck.

My library used to belong to a mail-order system which included a good number of the libraries in the region that were joined together in a consortium. They sent you a catalog, and you sent an order, and they sent you the book, and it came in a bag which was free to return via mail and you could enclose your next order in the bag (sound familiar?) However, it is more likely that your library subscribes to Interlibrary Loan and can get books from many other libraries in their system. Usually they have a catalog from which you can order, or they can check on the availability of a book for you. ILL is usually free (some books/materials may incur a cost).

It's called the local library and they have all kinds of books, movies, music and magazines that don't cost anything to check out. And it's air-conditioned.
