Perhaps POLAND, losing badly against ECUADOR in the opening match & even more heart breaking when they lose to GERMANY 1-0 in the injury time goal.

SERBIA & MONTENEGRO, being hammered 6-0 by ARGENTINA!!! conceded 1 in the qualifiers but already let in 7 goals here!!!!

IRAN, just fell short, unable to deliver.

same goes to JAPAN, leading AUSTRALIA until the last 8 minutes when they lose 3-1 & only hold CROATIA to a goalless boring draw.

The French.

Thierry Henry is arguably the second best player on planet Earth behind Ronaldhino. Zidane and the French FINALLY scored yesterday. They scored zero goals in the 2002 World Cup and were shut-out in last week's opener. Wow.

This country won the 1998 World Cup over Brazil?

This team needs to win against Togo. That's right, I said a WIN, against Togo. A country the size of my backyard. And France NEEDS that win. A loss or a THIRD TIE in a row would punch their ticket back to Paris. Switzerland and Korea already have four points to lead France's two...adding one point for a French tie-score wouldn't be enough. If the South Koreans tie the Swiss?

Then,
France would need to beat Togo...I mean the kids who play soccer in my yard...by three. 3-0, 4-1, 5-2, etc. Problem is, Togo hasn't surrendered more than two goals in losses of 2-0 and 2-1 to the Swiss and Japanese, respectively.

Worse yet, France has only scored one goal in this tournament.

Like the French, the Argentinians have allowed only a single goal in the 2006 tournament....they've also scored EIGHT.

Argentina came back with a fury this World Cup after a disappointing 2002 showing.
France can't say the same.

It looks like the French are going to steal the spotlight-of-disappointment from Argentina for the second cup in a row. This year, though, the Argentinians are going to stick-around and book their hotels for another week...or more. The Argentinians filled-up the net with soccerballs, and as impressive as Germany has been, Argentina has an 8:1 goal differential compared to the host country's 8:2 margin.

Adieu, Francs.

One more thing:
USA! USA! USA!

The United States is far from a disappointment, having tied a powerhouse like the Italian team in a gritty, bloody match; the Americans are poised to advance with a win over Ghana and some help from the Italian team. The winner of the Italy-Czech Republic game avoids a match-up with Brazil. They won't play for the tie.

Imagine what an American matchup versus Brazil would do for this country's youth soccer? (Smile) I'm getting ahead of myself.

Too bad this tournament comes-around only once every four years.

why would anyone be disappointed in the US? What could they have done anyway? They should be happy they tied a game.

The biggest disappointment is the French. High expectations for someone who just didn't deliver.

Speaking of disappointments, what the heck is wrong with Italy?

England- there has been so much hype and what I have seen is mediocre. Poor passes and teamwork, sloppy goalkeeing.. the list goes on
Another prolem is the large amount of hype and talk surrounding each and every game. Every station on both TV and radio seems to dedicate ridiculous amounts of time to talking about tactics, shot angles and statistics. And the other thing that annoys me is the hour of talking before each match. The pundits seem to think that matches rely on statistics, and the computer analysis of each and every shot is both annoying and unnecessary. They are trying to be clever with a load of idiots kicking a ball around. Other sports exist you know!!!

France and Italy. At least England and Brazil have won a couple games... Henry is simply embarrasing for the French team.

England with the aid of fact they ought to have won against the off-variety French. In asserting that, i've got been disenchanted in France too with the aid of fact they lost to Tonga and after dropping 2 video games of their pool, i'm undecided they deserve a place interior the semis. i could have enjoyed Tonga to have been the 2nd team out of their pool. It bothers me that neither Tonga, nor, Samoa, nor Fiji made to the quarter finals. i'm easily disenchanted in Fiji however. happening to Wales by making use of sixty six factors is surprising. they have overwhelmed Wales formerly. perchance i will cop some slack for this, yet am i able to in user-friendly terms say that i'm under no circumstances disenchanted interior the Springboks. They lost lots of their key gamers and nonetheless fought difficult to the tip. they only lost one game (to the intense-ranked Australia and in user-friendly terms by making use of two factors), yet in taking part in Aussie, they saved struggling with even however they have been marred by making use of harm or maybe however they have been in a rustic and environment the place the locals weren't overly fond of their team. They have been up against sturdy defence from the Aussies who performed nicely, so it truly is not as though SA basically threw the game. they do no longer seem to be a unhappiness.

In the world cup...so far I am disappointed by my team France. I love them! They are definitely one of my all time favorites, but they can't get it together to win! I hope they win next week! We'll see...

Given expectations, it would have to be the French. Odds are very much against them getting out to the next round and they won the whole thing just two Cups ago.

Not quite as bad as their '02 showing, but it's pretty close.
