Why would you want to make your avatar fat, ugly, or old? Every one wants to look "good". In today's standards, looking good doesn't involve being fat, ugly, or old. The avatars avalible on yahoo show our society what we should want to look like. I mean, just look at my avatar! Doesn't everyone wish they could be as sexy as me?

C'mon...I've heard the stories about those kinds of people, too. But to carry on those old fantasies about there actually being people like that by promoting avatars of them on such a legitimate and always-realistic forum like this....It's just a little to timely and impactful, don't you think?
I mean, hey, Yahoo is big, I mean big!, and its corporateness has got to remain a shining example of how we all think.
Besides, have you really looked at some of these cartoon faces you do have here? Some of them wouldn't pass any beauty contests I might stage, especially the guys. Mine has to hide under a hat! When it's loading, the undersides of the hat, right and left, appear before the hat itself, so I look like a clown. I wish they had clowns here (don't say it!). And you don't see anyone's body, so some of them can be fat if you want them too, I guess.
And age? Most of these avatars are in their 50's, I bet. They just live soft lives and look young. Cartoons got the right, don't they?
(Hey, how come you can't use smileys on here (I've reached my question-asking capacity today)? Or maybe I'm wrong, or ugly, or too weighty. I know I'm too old).

The avatars available here represent what yahoo's research indicates people either do look like, or want to look like. Since there are a large number of fat people and old people out there, yahoo wouldn't put representations of them here because we're not looking for reality here. This is an escape from reality.

The same reason Old Navy commercials never feature them either - no one wants to look old, fat or ugly. But I would have liked a shorter avatar, or one with frizzier hair. That would be more accurate.

The same reason there are no fat or ugly people on TV or in the movies. America is brainwashed that there is only one type of beauty.

Even if they did, no one would choose those avatars. Who admits that they're fat or ugly?

I've wondered that alot myself. I guess the average person wants an avatar that represents their best looks. Like when they were young and skinny heh heh.
