Because they don't appreciate the fact that they would ALL be speaking GERMAN if it wasn't for us.
They should be licking our boots.
Oh wait....they already do. My bad.

I have found that many Americans(well a few other nationalities too) just don't like to think anyone is better than them. Some don't believe anything happens or exists if it hasn't happened or been invented in America. I think that may be the reason with some people. As for the first answer. Whay the..? The war would have been won without the Americans. They only came in when Pearl Harbour was attacked and wouldn't have bothered if nothing had happened to them.

Huh? Never heard that one before. I don't understand why the UK site is filled with anti-american crap. You don't see it on the US site.
Americans (most all) would love to experience Europe.....hell, some do. Some choose to stay. but for the most part most Americans can't. The USA is so massive it takes a life time to see it.
Where does this get started? You know, I wish you could elaborate on this question.....you have my curiosity up.

At first I was unsure what would be the thought behind such a thought. Then I read the answers already posted.
In truth there is much acrimony from both sides. Some of it as a result of our bad acts and some as a result of their bad acts. It seems to be human nature to forget about the good and remember only the bad.

I don't have anything against Europeans. They seem to have figured out how to run a country far better than our crazy Christian theocracy.
