Michael Jackson's Thriller was a huge hit in the 80's - everthing on that album (CD). Check out the movies 13 going on 30 and The Wedding Singer. They have a lot of 80's music. Culture Club and Pat Benatar where huge then also. Other bands that come to mind are Chicago, Heart, Jefferson Starship, Air Supply, Hall & Oates, The Police, Huey Lewis and the News. . .
Hope that helps some.

Well, if you would like people to dance, play some of the "upbeat" songs from the 80's. For example, play stuff from Depeche Mode. Throw in some Erasure. Try some Poison or Bon Jovi for rock. However, if you want to kill a party, stay away from Culture Club or the Cure. These are music you listen by yourself in your car, not at a party.

Any of the "One Hit Wonders" ie: Dexy's Midnight Runner,
Gotta have "Grease", Blondie, Michael Jackson, Prince, Eurasure..not quite sure how that's spelled, throw in some "hair bands" ie: Def Leppard, AC/DC and you've got quite the mix.
Happy Birthday!

Since you're 18, it's not like you'll know the difference anyway. Play whatever you want.
