I see you've gotten mixed answers. First your piercer should give you instructions. Second. dont use alcohol peroxide or anything like that and more importantly DONT take the ring out while you're cleaning it. Clean it with dial unscented soap in the shower, rinse well, dry well and dont put anything on or in it. I have had both mine done for 7 years with no problems. I can give you all the do's and don'ts if you like seeing as i am a body piercer :)

I used alcohol and soap and water when I got mine pierced and it healed up just fine. Some people use neosporin, however, that can make it heal faster than it should, and you end up with an internal infection. My best advice? Just be obsessive about it. Every time you go to the bathroom, wash your hands and then clean your nipple ring. Not recommended more than 4 times a day though, if you're someone who has to use the restroom all the time, this technique could potentially dry the piercing out.

Use dial soap and turn it when you're in the shower. DO NOT use alcohol or peroxide, I dont know why people think they can use that stuff, theres nothing worse for a healing peircing.
Just a word to the wise, I had mine done a few years ago and I didnt want to wait the few months until my 18th birthday so I went to some dive place that would do it underage. They ended up piercing my nipples completely crooked, and I had to take them out because they were tearing through my skin. Dont go to some hole in the wall place. And ask to see the peircers portfolio.
Enjoy them, while mine were in they were my favorite things in the world =)

your piercer should give you complete instruction on how to clean it and frequency of doing so. For my navel piercing it was to rinse it in warm epsom salt water several times a day, and to wash it with antibiotic soap when I showered, and never to touch it (while it was healing) unless I'd just washed my hands. I do not know if nipple piercings are treated any differently.

The piercer should give you specific instructions on how to keep your nipple clean.
I.E. putting saltwater in a shot glass and submersing your nipples for 10 minutes twice a day.
If the shop does not provide you with instructions, go somewhere else. They should always do this!

The discomfort is undesirable, in case you had comfortable nipples (and also you may). forget concerning the haters. in case you prefer to get it performed, bypass for it. in case you're going to a respected keep, they grant you with all the information on a thanks to save it sparkling. oftentimes, this can contain soaking, cleansing with health center-grade cleansing soap, probable turning them once an afternoon, probable salt (?). Piercings i have had in the previous frequently require a salt soak, yet it really is in the face, no longer the nipples. as with all body modification, please be effective to study out the position you're having it performed and make effective they are sparkling and specialist. they grant you with sparkling preparation on a thanks to save the piercing free of an infection.

When you bathe, make sure you take it out and cleanse it separately. Don't clean it while it's on your nipple. Good luck!
