My boyfreind and I are both teachers. However, he does not take his job seriously and wants to leave the professsion, but he keeps doing unprofessional things like calling students demeaning names and does not put alot of effort into his lessons. His whole attitude stinks and he wasn't like this in college. The thing is I love him but I have no respect for him as a teacher. Is this healthy?

Well, you should talk to him and ask him to think about another proffesion such as another job because the children should not be getiing put down. And it is healthy if you don't have respect for him as a teacher because he is not putting his all and effort into his job as a teacher and I believe you should not be teaching children if you do not enjoy or take it seriously , and that goes for any job. So good luck and I wish the best for you two. Also , I want to say that I respect you for being a teacher. : )

Miss you need to report him b/c their is nothing worst then a teacher that puts down students. you can still love him b/c what you and him do outside of work has nothing to do wit you relationship. but as co-workers you need to do the right thing. kids self-esteem are very sensitive, and words are very harmful. if the teacher is not Believing eliveing in them then why should they Believe in theirselves. 9please help the children in his class).

Yes.

I don't have to tell you the cause and effect of what he is doing, this is clear to you but this man is ruining the confidence of the future work force, i just hope that one of them doesn't end up as his doctor.

Tell him to leave the profession, then he may be able to find joy on work again.

You should report him, but if he leaves this is better than nothing.

1. if you do not respect him for the way he acts and thinks then you do not respect him, there is nothing wrong about it
2. unhealthy? yes, how can you love a person whom you do not respect...also, how can you love a person whose actions against kids are such as his
3. his actions as a teacher are a window into much larger things, regardless of his job, he is not a person you want to spend the rest of your life with

It would be wrong if you respected his work ethic. Motivate him to do something that he enjoys and exhibits his strengths.

I have had that same problem too.
