I don't think the Empire will crumble for another hundred years or more. That is, if the world survives a hundred years. C'est la vie!

The United States is the most powerful country on the face of the Earth. It will not be going anywhere anytime soon. My guess is that the U.S. will live on until the terrorists come up with some super mass destruction weapon (more powerful than a neuclear missile), or we all lose our minds from gas prices and slowly split apart. Although, it depends on who gets elected for president in future elections. Many people dislike our current president, and soon enough they will figure out that if they can influence the media enough, they could spark a rebellion. Our current Democracy will probably live on longer than the U.S itself, and again it depends on who's president in the future. We might end up with a total moron for a president. Then we might just crumble and fall, like the Roman Empire. If the Democracy does get replaced, God only knows what we might end up with. It could be anything from a empire to a tyranny.

I dont think that the US will be replaced anytime soon because we are currently "the powerhouse" of the world. Maybe in over a 100 years China or India might become the powerhouse but the US will not be replaced by them. Unless there is a civil war or some scientific freak accident, the US will remain a crucial part of this world for atleast the next thousand years.

You are correct, civilizations do nat last forever, but i strongly disagree with you on the idea that the US will be replaced.....
The ideas and ideals that formed this country over the past 250 years, are far to important to just be replaced, however.....
I do feel that the govenment will evolve and the country may change but America will stand for a long time to come.

The US is still young, so I think the US will exist for a very long time. The only way we'll change is if some outside force takes over or if people in the country are unhappy enough with the government that they demand a huge change (like the American Revolution).

To be honest.....I can't say. I think that this country was built on one of the strongest beliefs in its time. I think that belief is barely holding on....I do believ that it will last for at least another 50 years...100..maybe not.. all of these threats of attacks...and all of these global attacks on "power house" nations like the U.S. and the U.K. are running down friendships between nations...and constant depletion of natural resources are going to cause an every-man-for-himself/ every-nation-for-it-self war for oil...
People arent so different..but technology..dont get me wrong b/c i LOVE my computer and my ipod..but technology has really caused a decline in "the american dream" and patriotism....we dont have that will to live anymore...and most of us dont have the will to stand up for their beliefs and for their country.. and the older this country gets the more we need to keep in mind this statement "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"..or else 50 years will be painfull..and 100 years will burn..and the united states will just be a memory...and a barren wasteland...a memorial to the ones that fought for the land hundreds of years ago

Who's been spreading a rumour about america being civilised? Any country which elects a president who disproves survival of the fittest deserves to be lead by a creationist. Maybe it will be replaced by a government with a combined IQ reaching into double figures?

Los Estados Unidos de Mexico.
Reverse annexation.
And for allknowing: fu** you. The current administration is rife with awols and draft dodgers. The Republicans are filled with the sons of privilege who avoid military duty while the wroking men and women get it in the neck.
I'm sorry you are not within arm's reach right now.

Good question!
I think it all boils down to whether or not we can vote for individuals that actually have peaceful and honest American interests at heart.
We also have to do away with radical conservatives and liberals, and get back to the core values that this country was founded upon!

All nations rise and fall but if France can last for more than a thousand years, we should be able to last at least more than 400.
