No. Gift giving as part of the celebration; stories about Santa Claus, Father Christmas, etc.
The practice of Christmas gift giving is not based on what was done by the Magi. As shown above, they did not arrive at the time of Jesus’ birth. Furthermore, they gave gifts, not to one another, but to the child Jesus, in accord with what was then customary when visiting notable persons.
The Encyclopedia Americana states: “During the Saturnalia . . . feasting prevailed, and gifts were exchanged.” (1977, Vol. 24, p. 299) In many instances that represents the spirit of Christmas giving—an exchanging of gifts. The spirit reflected in such gift giving does not bring real happiness, because it violates Christian principles such as those found at Matthew 6:3, 4 and 2 Corinthians 9:7. Surely a Christian can give gifts to others as an expression of love at other times during the year, doing so as often as he wants to.
Depending on where they live, children are told that gifts are brought by Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, Père Noël, Knecht Ruprecht, the Magi, the elf Jultomten (or Julenissen), or a witch known as La Befana. (The World Book Encyclopedia, 1984, Vol. 3, p. 414) Of course, none of these stories are actually true. Does the telling of such stories build in children a respect for truth, and does such a practice honor Jesus Christ, who taught that God must be worshiped with truth?—John 4:23, 24.

That depends on your belief. Whatever you perceive to be "real" is real. Realism is based on perception. How do you define "real". If you mean what you can see, smell, taste, and touch then "real" is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Then no matter what you want to believe is real, if you truly "believe" it to be real, then it is. But then what if someone tells you that it's not real? If two people are standing in the middle of the desert and both are looking in the same direction, one see's a city of gold and the other see's only sand. Who is right? What is real? Sand or Gold? What makes one man more right than the other? Are not both of them perceptive humans? One man's perception is just a "real" as the others, so both are right. So, if you choose to believe that Santa Clause is real than he is.

One of the things that bothers me is that parents would LIE to their children about such a person visiting their home to give them gifts. This is common with christian beliefs - truthiness - truth doesn't always matter, they say. Well, I say it does.
Sorry, no, there is no santa, it is supposedly based on a charitable man who lived a long time ago and the current story is hogwash all wrapped in a pretty bow called commercialism.
It is an idiotic tradition that people should be ashamed of. Lying to all those poor, innocent children and especially in carrying it sooo far. But its setting them up to believe in christianity, which also is based on a lie, that we should worship something God CREATED instead of solely worshipping The CREATOR.
"Those whom they invoke besides Allah/God have not created anything, but are themselves created." [The Noble Qur'an 16:20]

I have three children who are now 25...22...and 18....and they will tell you what I taught them when they were very little. Everyone has the right to believe or not believe in santa....but..we know he lives in your heart. No body can take that away from them or ruin a childs dream.

I certainly hope so. With all of the enourmous interest rates, housing inflation and stock-market rip offs, it is a nice feeling to know that someone just want's to give you something that will bring you joy. I miss Santa Clause.

I got $10 for the one that I tied a string around and couldn't get it off, my mom had to pull it out! lol! I'm so stupid! My last lost tooth was pulled out by the dentist, because it wouldn't come out by itself, yes it was loose.
