Racism is not only in the US. It's as old as humanity and as long as humans are so insecure that they feel the need to be better than someone else racism, gossip and all forms of stupidity will continue. Sad but we humans are flawed and all we can do is to strive to improve and set an example for others to follow. We can also stop sitting with our mouths shut when we hear racist comments. It is not necessary to get angry or abusive but when someone says something racist to me or in my presence I gently admonish them. Ignorance is educable - meanness isn't.

I don't know...I'm an African American female and I don't believe in racism...I know that may sound crazy, but I just don't. I feel that at the end of the day, we all have a heart. Some people hate others due to the fear of the unknown...For instance, you may have a 34 yr old white guy who hates blacks because thats all he was taught to do as a kid...As a black person, I could allow him to get to know me...For instance, if we worked in the same place or something and he had no choice but to see me everyday...Based upon the way I present myself..and not fall into all the stereotypes that people have casted on blacks, then he could realize that I'm a cool person...Regardless of the color of my skin...That's individualism...However, if I went to work talking all loud and ghetto all the time, wearing inapproprite clothes with different colors of bright hair in my head, with 10 inch nails, ect...Then I may not be as appealing to him...He's gonna continue to not like "my kind" b/c of the way I represented "US".... It's all about how people present themselves...Everyone thinks Bush is racist...But look at his relationship with Condaleeza Rice...That's because she's an educated, civilized, classy black woman...Depends on the individual... You gotta look at the people that are in the public eye representing blacks...Jay Z, Lil Kim, Chamillionaire, Dave Chappelle, Lil Jon,...Look at the barely educated dudes in the NBA with all the tattoos and braids, on televison using improper English...Hell, I'd have a negative impression of us too!
